Just Love Mom

Life with the mom of a missionary family

That’s what it’s all about

I’m brand new to blogging. I decided one day that I was going to blog, and just started blogging. I don’t usually approach things this way. Usually I get an idea, research it, plan it to death and then decide that I don’t really want to do it, so I never even start.
I think that I need to develop a happy medium.

I’ve been thinking about this blog, that I just started out of the blue, and I realize that it needs some more direction. There’s so many people out there that express their inner thought life so well, that you really don’t need to read what’s going on in my head.

So I’m thinking, what can I offer people? What do I have that I can share that will benefit you?
I’ve got a few things that make me a little different. Maybe they’re things we have in common. Check it out;

I’m an undiagnosed Celiac. Undiagnosed because no matter how sick I was, I could never get anyone to test me. Now that I’ve been off gluten for 8 years, there’s no way I’m going on just to prove I’m right. Maybe you’ve lived with the frustration of an undiagnosed illness?

I’m a homeschool mom. I homeschool 4 kids, ages 22 months to 14 years. We are going to homeschool through highschool. One of my favorite things in the world is researching new curricula and teaching techniques. How about you?

I’m a missionary preparing to go to a new field. Are you a missionary? Do you feel called to missions? We can chat about that. The call of God is a pretty wild topic.

I’m an inconsistent P90X user. Inconsistent or not, I’m seeing some pretty hot results. Do you work out? Are you trying to get motivated? We can encourage each other.

I’m on a journey of health. I’ve recently started to cut out animal products and sugar. I feel better, but I’m a little nervous about it. I’ve been beaten over the head with “meat is good” for almost 40 years. How about you? Are you hesitantly dipping into something new?

And lastly, probably lastly, I drink coffee. I drink it because it tastes good, I drink it because of the health benefits, and I drink it because it may give me something in common with you. Seriously. The social aspect of coffee is the number one reason I drink it.

Think you might find something for you here? Grab a cup, don’t worry I made tea too, have a seat, and we’ll hang out for a bit.

I like reading your blog just because it helps me get to know you better. You are one of those people that I regret not having the opportunity to really get to know in person. Since an ocean separates us now, and soon 1/2 the globe will separate us, I think your blog is a good way to figure out what makes you tick and how I can mesh with that. So… whatever the topic, keep blogging and I will keep reading! I drink coffee too. Sharon

I totally agree about the coffee. I could take it or leave it but, if you are having a cups so am I. I always love someone elses coffee better than my own. It is like salads. If somebody has made a salad for me with only 2 ingredients it is instantly more amazing than what I could have made with the same ingredients.
Jody you always seem to have something interesting to write and I always enjoy your take on things!

Two tghins. First of all, your dress is GORGEOUS and I want it! =) Second, I am an actress and have spent several years studying voice and vocal technique and one of the first tghins we were taught was about the negative effects coffee (and caffeine in general) can have on the vocal folds. One of the best tghins to do (at least for singing) is after you drink a cup of coffee, drink AT LEAST the same amount in water, ideally double in water. That helps dilute the caffeine and wards off negative effects on singing and speaking. Now, I know you are not talking about singing, of course, but I have found that it’s a good rule to follow, especially since caffeine is a diuretic and drinking a caffeinated beverage really does nothing to actually hydrate your body. Balance, balance! Stay gorgeous

she was crnaky, but the cold water helped to wake her up. Please don’t hate me, but I guess I’m one of those people that benefits from coffee. I quit it for a month once and it was the worst month of me and my girlfriend’s lives. Let’s just say I took crnaky b**** to a whole new level. I only drink 1-2 cups in the morning and limit my afternoon caffeine to green tea. I would imagine if I needed to quit for health reasons, I could do it, but otherwise there is no way I could give it up I love it all too much. And while most times I agree with your lovely hubby, I don’t on this issue. One cup a day IS moderation in my book. Let’s make a low estimate that you only have 8 other drinks a day (water, tea, juice, etc), while keeping in mind that a coffee cup generally holds 6-8 oz. while other drinking cups hold upwards of 12. Of the nearly 3300 drinks a year, only 365 are coffee that does not sound like overindulging to me! Again, if coffee aggravates your health issues, of course you should reduce your intake. That would be the only reason I could ever give up my liquid gold. Good luck to you

I gave up ceanfife almost a year ago! Partly because I knew I was going to try to get pregnant soon and would need to cut back, but also because it started to make me feel like crap! I couldn’t survive without it and was totally addicted. I’d always crash around mid afternoon too. And it would make my heart race like crazy, almost like I was having a panic attack. Not fun. So I quit last year. I eased my way into it by drinking black tea instead then swtiching to green.. and then finally herbal tea.. Now I don’t drink any tea in the morning. Just milk, juice or smoothies, and I have way more energy than ever. I still occasionally have a few sips here or there of a coke or a latte, but any more than that and my heart starts going crazy! Now, I order decaf lattes and they are just as satisfying Anyways, good luck, it is totally worth it!
